    Served under Pompey in Spain (a), where he attacked New Carthage (a; see 75, Promagistrates). Münzer (RE) shows clearly that this C. Memmius should not be identified with the Praetor of 58. For the opposite view, see Mommsen (b). He may have accompanied Pompey in 77 as Quaestor, and therefore be a Proquaestor in this year.
